We are excited to announce that we will again have the privilege to be featured on 103.1 KCDA’s Local Lounge!

The Local Lounge had us on after we had finished our first CD, so when we had finished the new CD we decided to send them a copy and show them our new stuff! A few weeks later we were invited to do another radio show! We are thrilled to be able to share our music and our message with a broad audience and are also excited to be able to play live on the radio, and this time it will not be just an acoustic set, they now have capabilities for us to record our full set up!

We will be on the Local Lounge sometime in the next few months, (the details aren’t worked out yet,) but we will let you know when to listen for us as soon as we find out!

My Greatest Show by Modern Dissent

Well, it has taken many months. As a matter of fact it has taken more than a year. But Modern Dissent’s new CD “My Greatest Show” is finished! I was looking at some old posts to see when we started recording and found this one dated October 27th, 2009. But good things sometimes take a long time.

When we actually were in the studio laying down tracks it went very smooth overall. There were very few instrumental parts that took multiple sessions to record and once we got some basic settings down we were able to record fairly quickly. Vocals were a bit of a challenge at some points but those still went down fairly easily considering this was Bob’s first time recording lead vocals.

All in all we are VERY happy with how everything turned out. The overall sound quality is a step up from our first CD and we hope you will be as blessed listing to our CD as we have been recording it.

It will officially go on sale December 31st at First Night Spokane when we play there but as a special treat you can pre-order your copy now for only $10 and have it before Christmas. We will have some samples of our songs up soon for you to listen to and if you like it we would encourage you to order one before they are on sale to the public.

More Modern Dissent Videos

As you may have noticed, there is no new Modern Dissent CD out yet. The original plan was to have it out about now, but there have been some recording delays, and life is just busy as usual. So the release date is going to end up being closer to late November, or early December. (It’ll make a great Christmas gift!)

As of now we are working on the last two songs that will go on the album: the soft acoustic “Just Fine,” and the Foo Fighter-esque “My Greatest Show.” Neither of which have been played live or released in any other way yet. So we are eager for you all to hear them when the CD is released!

Even if we have some more minor recording delays the Album should be ready by this winter, and we are very excited for you all to hear it! We think the recording quality has improved greatly from our last CD, and we are beginning to find our sound as a band in this set of songs (and songs we are working on for future Albums.) And while we do miss Corey, Bob has filled the role of lead man excellently. There is a lot we are excited about, but all of it is ultimately because we want to worship God and share Christ, encouraging and challenging everyone to think hard about their relationship with him.

Some of the album info may be locked in soon and we’ll let you know as much as we can as soon as we can! But until then, get ready for the album by checking out our 2 free songs below!

We are now on our way to having 8 songs for the next album recorded! We’re really excited to finish this project, (although we still have a ways to go,) and we’re even more excited for you all to hear it!

So here is some potential information for the CD!

It will likely be called The Dying Man obviously titled after our song The Dying Man

It will be around 10-12 songs some of which are for sure on the album are:

• The Dying Man
• The Change
• When I Met You
• You in Me
• Satisfied
• To The End
• etc. etc…

It will be released sometime this summer or early fall if all goes according to plan.

And one more thing you should all know is that Bob got a Ukulele while he was in Hawaii! So don’t be surprised if you hear some of that on the album.

2nd Corinthians 5:21 – For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Praise God for his constant grace to us all!

We have tried and tried but I think this time is a winner!!!

After multiple test sessions to get just the right sound from the drums I think we finally figured it out and are ready to get the tracks laid down for The Dying Man. We tested many different mic positions, different types of mics, different dampening in the kick drum, different beater heads for the kick pedal, different types of heads, etc. And finally I think we have the sound we are looking for. But I would much rather take the time to get it sounding as good as possible before moving forward and I think it will show in the final product.

Bob is laying down the acoustic guitar as I write this and hopefully in about an hour I will be laying down the bass track. If we can get both those parts done tonight I will be pretty happy. Then it is just Seth’s guitar part and some vocals next week.

Speaking of finished products have you heard our latest recording of The Change??? Check out the video below to listen. It isn’t quite the final mix but we are getting closer and closer to having that song ready to go. Just a bit more tweaking and we will be all set. Today we did a little more mixing on “The Change”. It’s getting really close and sounding really good! We can’t wait to keep going and hear how all of our songs turn out, because if our first one is turning out this good it can only get better! We will be recording “The Dying Man” next. We have been having some problems with getting good drum sounds for this song, but we think we’re finally past this.
We are not sure if we are going to record all of our new songs for a full CD or do a couple EPs or maybe even try some other things, but get ready, ’cause new Modern Dissent music is comming soon!!!
