Paul Weber
In the words of Paul: “I grew up in a home, in Spokane, that had Christ as the biggest priority. At the young age of 7, I felt the Lord working on my heart and I put my trust in Christ. Growing up, I mostly walked close to the Lord. At times, though, my faith was shallow and fellowship was a social thing. The Lord was faithful and caused me to make correct decisions that put Him and his ways first, when faced with hard choices. When I was close to finishing college I met my wife Dawn, at church, and we got married 1 year later. After getting married, we moved to the Tri-Cities. We later lived in Yakima, where we had both of our kids, Seth and Hannah. (Seth is our newest band member.) We later move again to Moses Lake for 2 years, but then after 8 years away, we came back to Spokane. All of our moves were related to my work. In one form or another, my career has been related to the railroad industry.
My start in music was at a young age. Starting in about 5th grade, I took a couple of years of piano. (This was the “family’s” policy before I could get into another instrument – especially drums.) With piano out of the way, I started drumming, but all of that went by the wayside by the start of high school. I was into other things, including some school sports and riding and racing motocross. (I still dabble in some sports and I really enjoy mountain biking as the substitute for motocross. It’s a lot safer and a whole lot cheaper….) Other than some choir singing, I hardly did anything musically for two decades. Then one day a fellow minister and children’s pastor at our church became aware that I used to play drums. He kept asking and asking me to consider playing. So I did, and the “bug” had bitten again – hard. Within a few months, I had two drum sets – for the second time in my life. I also started playing the guitar with my son as he was starting out on that instrument. A few years later now, I play as the primary worship team drummer at our church. God works in his ways and his timing.
In early-mid 07, fellow minister and friend, Bob Delateur was investigating the possibility of forming a Christian rock band. He asked if I would consider it. I was confident that the Lord would lead us. We did agree that we wanted to write, sing, and play together in a way we had not previously experienced. We searched out our hearts, the Lord’s will and felt led to proceed.
It has been a blessing, though our music, to become closer friends and to minister in a different way. We’re not sure where all of this will lead, but as long as we all continue to grow and others can be strengthened, challenged or encouraging by what we are doing, and the Lord keeps giving us opportunities, as we keep all of this in perspective, we will keep going forward.”
